Kayaking
A friend of mine mentioned that her colleague was interested in knowing more about places to Kayak in Montreal. So let’s get our minds off the winter blues for just a moment to look at some of our options:
Parc de la Riviere-des-Mille-Iles is just off the shores of Laval. The park’s main access points are in Laval but it can be accessed from several areas on the Laurentian shore including the Centre de la Nature de Boisbriand. Kayaks can be rented.
Parc Iles-de-Boucherville is located in the St. Lawrence River just south of the eastern end of Montreal. Made up of several Islands, the park's officials have put together a suggested paddling circuit, between and around the islands, most of which is protected from the stronger currents of the broader St. Lawrence. If you bring your own kayak, you'll have a short portage since there is no direct road access to the water. In the summer the park can be accessed from the South Shore and the Island of Montreal via water taxi. Kayaks can be rented.
The Lachine Canal You can paddle from downtown Montreal all the way to Lake Saint Louise. You'll find parking at either end of the canal as well as several other points along the route. Kayaks can be rented.
Just a few more months of winter and then we can shift our focus on to beautiful sunny days!
